Hans Buyse graduated with honours as a "Master in Film" from the KASK film academy in Ghent in 1996. In 1998, he co-founded the company iSPY with three filmmaker friends and a musician, mainly producing music videos and commercials. In 2006, he established the production company Poetry in Motion with which they won several advertising awards at Cannes.
