David Šourek is a director and intermedia artist. He works both with analog video and film stock. His latest film, The Beetroot (2025), combines hand-drawn animation with live-action elements and draws on the kaiju genre. It won the award for Best Student Sci-Fi Film at the Future Gate Festival and received a Special Mention in the experimental film section at FAMUFEST. He is a student at the Centre for Audiovisual Studies at FAMU in Prague. He has been a vegetarian for many years.
