Born in Wardak, Afghanistan, in 1992, Aziz Hazara lives and works in Kabul and Ghent, Belgium. Biyografi
Born in Wardak, Afghanistan, in 1992, Aziz Hazara lives and works in Kabul and Ghent, Belgium. He works across media including photography, video, sound, language programming, text and multimedia installations. This diverse array allows him to explore questions of identity, memory, archive, conflict, surveillance and migration in the context of power relations, geopolitics and the panopticon. As he has explained on more than one occasion: 'The visual exploration of my work is deeply entrenched in the geopolitics and the never-ending conflict that afflicts my native Afghanistan. The relevance of such issues, however, overcomes geographical specificities and appeals to a contemporary condition that is globally shared.' He has participated in numerous international group exhibitions and presented solo exhibitions at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Barcelona (2020), Hessel Museum of Art - CCS Bard, New York (2020) and the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin (2022). He has participated in the Sydney Biennale (2020), Busan Biennale, South Korea (2020), Kortrijk Triennial of Contemporary Art, Belgium (2021) and the Moving Image Biennial of the Centre d'Art Contemporain, Geneva (2024), among others.
