Rudeus journeys to the harsh northlands in search of his lost mother. Or at least, that's what he tells himself. The scars of his parting from Eris run deep, and getting back on his feet may not be so easy.

Rudeus doesn't want a new party, but he still grows closer to Counter Arrow as he settles into life as a northlands adventurer. When danger rears its head, he finds himself risking it all for his new friends.

Things seem to be looking up for Rudeus. And when Sara asks him on a date, he decides to forget his heartbreak and start a new romance. But putting the past behind him may be easier said than done.

After two years of adventuring with Soldat, Rudeus is no closer to finding his mother or curing his impotence. But the sudden arrival of a seductive elf and an unexpected offer could send his life off in a whole new direction.

Following the Man-God's advice, Rudeus enrolls in school. He reunites with an old friend and meets potential new enemies, but will he find what he seeks? And what does the future hold for him and the enigmatic "Silent Fitz"?

Ariel confronts Sylphiette with a choice: reveal herself to Rudeus or cut ties with him forever. Determined on one last push to jog Rudeus's memory, Sylphiette invites him on a forest expedition.

Sylphiette reveals herself and Rudeus admits his feelings, but even that isn't enough to cure what ails him. After their heart-to-heart, Sylphiette sets out to end his problem once and for all.

Newly cured and brimming with confidence, Rudeus resolves to marry Sylphie. Just one problem: he has no idea how marriage works in this world. And when friends tell him any newlywed needs a house, he winds up with a haunted mansion.

Rudeus receives a letter from Paul. The letter explains that Norn and Aisha, Rudeus's younger sisters, have been sent to join Rudeus. Meanwhile Nanahoshi continues her research into summoning magic for a way to return to her original world.

Rudeus's sisters arrive with an unexpected chaperone. After catching up with an old friend, Rudeus decides it's time to send the girls to school. But convincing Norn and Aisha turns out to be more trouble than he bargained for.

Norn shuts herself in her dorm room and refuses to attend classes. Haunted by the specter of his past life, Rudeus sets out to solve his sister's problems, only to discover that he is the cause.

With Nanahoshi's help, Rudeus gains a way to shorten his journey, but he and Elinalise will still need to hurry if they hope to return before Sylphie gives birth. Their first obstacle: the harsh desert of Begaritt and its monstrous denizens.

Rudeus and Elinalise reach Rapan and soon reunite with Paul, only to learn that a deadly labyrinth has claimed both Zenith and Roxy. The fruits of Rudeus's studies offer a last, faint hope to reach his mother and his mentor in time.

With Roxy's rescue, the search for Zenith resumes in earnest. Rudeus reconnects with his mentor amid the perils of the labyrinth. But why does she seem a little more awkward around him than before?

The rescue party reaches the heart of the Teleporter Labyrinth and confronts its guardian. But when the monster shrugs off Rudeus's magic, they realize they may have bitten off more than they can chew.

Roxy makes a desperate move to pull Rudeus out of his depression. As the group journeys home, both of them must face their feelings and negotiate the consequences.

Rudeus arrives home, frantic that something may have gone wrong in his absence. But the conversations waiting for him may become disasters in their own right. How can he introduce a new wife to a family still reeling from Paul's death?
